WHO provides swine flu treatment for 10,000 peole to South Sudan |

The Director of Communicable Disease Surveillance and Response at the Government of South Sudan told Miraya FM that the Health Ministry has received this week medical treatment for swine flu from the World Health Organization (WHO) for 10,000 people in preparation for any outbreak of the desease. The Director Dr. John Lagu said that the ministry is now waiting for personal protective equipments which are needed by health professionals while treating patients.

African Union decides against cooperating with ICC over indicted persons |

The draft communiqué expected for the current African Union summit, seen by Reuters News Agency, says that the African Union member states shall not cooperate with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the arrest and surrender of African indicted personalities in view of the fact that the request by the African Union has never been acted upon by the court.

Ashraf Qazi welcomes election postponement |

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Sudan, Ashraf Qazi, has welcomed the postponement of the national elections to April 2010 as recently announced by the National Elections Commission (NEC). Mr Qazi said in a press statement that the revised elections' timetable will provide more time for voter registration, training of staff, in addition to civic and voter education.

ICC launches radio station in Central African Republic |

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has announced that it will launch its first radio outreach program in Sango, Central African Republic next Monday. In a statement released today, the Court said that the Radio Outreach Series called "Understanding the International Criminal Court" is designed to educate the population of the Central African Republic on the role, mandate, operation and the activities of The Hague based tribunal.
