The former president of the Sudan Football Association (SFA), Kamal Shadad, has rejected the ruling of the Sports Commission banning him from running in the upcoming elections of the association. Addressing the press, Shadad said that he will refer to the International Governing Football Body (FIFA) for the ruling to be revoked. However, Shadad said that he will not appeal against the Sports Commission ruling.
Earlier, the International Governing Football Body (FIFA) threatened to suspend Sudan from football activities if its government does not lift a ban on several candidates standing in elections for the country's Football Association executive committee. FIFA described the decisions as unacceptable and gave Sudan an ultimatum of 48 hours to reverse the decision.
Sudan Sports Commission accepted an appeal against the candidacy of former president of the Sudan Football Association (SFA), Kamal Shadad, for the upcoming elections of the association. The court meanwhile cancelled the appeal against Mutasim Ja'afar who is also contesting for the same position. Mutasim Ja'afar and the former president of Al Hilal Football Club, Salah Idriss, will compete against each other over presidency of the Sudan Football Association during the elections that will run on the 26th and 27th of July.
