The rehabilitation work on the Maridi Dam in Western Equatoria State has been launched on Tuesday by the Vice President of the Republic, Ali Othman Taha and the Vice President of the Government of Southern Sudan, Riek Machar Teny. Addressing a mass rally on the occasion, Taha expressed the commitment of the National Government to assist the Southern Sudan Government to ensure security and stability in the south.

Meanwhile, Machar confirmed that the Ugandan Lord's Resistance Army attacks in the region are on the decrease. He further pledged the Southern Sudan Government's dedication to the completion of the Maridi Dam rehabilitation.
