The Deputy coordinator of World Food Program (WFP) in Southern Sudan, Alghassim Wurie, said that the program has received 30 million dollars for food Aid assistant from the British government to address the issues of food insecurity in the Sudan.
Speaking to journalists in Juba, Wurie said that the food Aid came at the right time as the WFP was planning to reduce the food ration distribution in the country.
Wurie noted that the donation will be used to buy about Forty thousand tons of food supplies that will benefit over five million people.
Meanwhile, UK minister for Africa, Henry Bellingham, witness the hand over of the amount and said that UK is ready to support WFP in order to establish humanitarian aid in Sudan. Wurie added that the food distribution will begins next month.
